If you want end-user wireless devices to automatically connect to the closest unit, and roam from one to the other when moving about, make the 2 SSID's the same. If you want to control which wireless end-user devices connect to the Base Station and which connect to the Repeater, make the 2 SSID's different. SSID : specify a name for the wireless network. You may have to set a static IP address on your PC to continue accessing and configuring the Repeater, after DHCP has been disabled.Having two DHCP servers on the network will cause serious problems, so to avoid this the DHCP function of the Repeater should be disabled. So does the Base Station, or perhaps some other server on the network. By default, the WNDR3800, like most routers, acts as a DHCP server.Choose “Wireless Base Station” and then input the MAC Address of the Repeater in the boxes.Channel should also be the same for the Repeaterīase Station - Wireless Repeating Function. You are provided one(1) address that can become many. Your computer will get its IP Address from the Router. This will be the address of your modem - from Cox, or whatever cable company you have. SSID : specify a name that you can use to distinguish the Base Station from other wireless networks in the area. One of these pieces of info is a Public IP Address. The DGND3700 here will be the Base Station and WNDR3800 as the repeater. The example below is how to set up a Router as a Wireless Repeater.
